Wanted to go South and made the mistake of taking a ride to the newly built A49. There are only small gas stations and I could not really find someone there. So if you want to go South. Take at least a ride to Hasselberg Ost or Reinhardshain Nord as there are no suitable service stations in the Kassel area.―Anonymous

We tried to get to Poland using the A38 to Leipzig, but the cars that stopped all wanted to go Northern so we decided to take a lift to Braunschweig and then head Eastern―Anonymous

Great spot to get a ride to Göttingen, I would recommend a sign (Norden/ GÖ) since it worked well for us that way―Anonymous

Two guys hitchhiking south via the A7 or to Frankfurt. Although it seems like a spot which could get traffic both north and south, this was sadly not the case. After 6 hours we gave up and hiked to an on-ramp 5 km further north. A lot of lokal traffic as well. Do not use for going south.―Ledan

From the Mittfahrbank at Edeka. Tramprennen Easter Race. Just needed to get a ride anywhere, so we hitched a ride in a trailer to the other side of the road. For serious hitchhiking I would prefer to find a better place a bit up the road.

Theres a bus stop-good for cars to stop. When heading north you can also take people driving south to drop you at the next service station (Rasthof Kassel, less than 5 minutes, has a bridge to get to the other side to head north again). Anyway it is a good idea to have a "rasthof KS" sign,so you might have a chance to catch a local lift you to the service station!―Anonymous

a busstop on 'dresdener straße' (L 3237) you can reach with you own "hitchhiker's busline" no (???) from the city center of kassel. cars on this road are driving here sometimes too fast, there is a lot of traffic and every third- or fourth car will continue its journey on autobahn "A 7" (north in the direction of 'göttingen'/'hannover' or south to 'frankfurt'). the busstop makes it very safe (for drivers) and legal (for you) to stand on. on my personal rating from "1" (very-very poor) to "10" (excellent) i will rate this spot a "7 to 8".―Anonymous

a lot of traffic comming through on "A 7" at 'tank und rastanlange göttingen'. you can also north/south change the sides of "A 7" via a bridge. safe even at night with enough traffic even later in the evening. you should not be waiting for longer than 10 minutes on any side ('göttingen east' or '- west') of this 'rastanlage'.―Anonymous

Service area "Göttingen West", direction south. Nearly everyone could take you to Kassel at least.―Anonymous

Was dropped off here in the middle of the night, had a ride on its way to take us to Hamburg but while waiting a guy came up and asked us where we were going and gave us a lift all the way to Lübeck.―Anonymous
